The prepaid conversion incurs a nonrefundable once-off fee. To apply for prepaid, click here:

Upon receiving the application and payment, prepaid conversion will be processed within 4-6 weeks, subject to availability.

For properties where Utilinova manages water, a deposit is required. A separate monthly account is sent for water and sanitation usage.

The tariff per unit for prepaid and conventional meters is the same as set by the local supply authority. A prepaid vending fee applies per transaction, and prepaid credit tokens and loaded meter credits are non-refundable.

Confirmation of registration

Before purchasing tokens online through your bank app, please wait to receive a confirmation SMS to your REGISTERED MOBILE NUMBER after registration. This step is crucial to ensure a successful transaction.

Purchase locations and instructions

Tokens can be obtained at various stores including Checkers, Shoprite/USAVE, OK, Pick n Pay, Pick n Pay Express, Boxer and House & Home.

Provide your PREPAID METER NUMBER (11-digits) to the cashier and request CONTOUR prepaid electricity. 

Service fee and online banking purchases

Please use your PREPAID METER NUMBER (11-digits) as REFERENCE when purchasing prepaid tokens. A vending fee of 8.55% applies to all prepaid purchases.

Kindly note the minimum online purchase amount is R100. Depending on your bank, select the correct beneficiary:

FNB: WIREIT

ABSA: WIREIT

Nedbank: WIREIT-NMBM

Standard Bank: WIREIT 

Capitec Bank: WIREIT 

Other bank users

If you use a bank not listed above, online token purchases won’t be possible. Stick to purchasing tokens at the designated stores.

IMPORTANT

Avoid using the prepaid meter option meant for municipality services. Create a new recipient to buy tokens, and an SMS with the token code will be sent to your REGISTERED MOBILE NUMBER.

Updating registered mobile number

In case your registered mobile number changes, please contact 067 955 0410 (WhatsApp) or follow the link https://www.wireit.co.za/Register.aspx . You’ll need to register the new number and provide your 11-digit meter number for a successful update.
